I'd like to thank gilda for being able to consistenly bring historical perspective into the blog while remaining unpretentious and never condescending. much appreciated by us youngsters (not that you're "old" or anything). thanks gilda!
Thank you Kevin! I just have a loong memory about the art world I care so much about. There are a number of my art-school-mates around who are exhibiting, teaching, writing, webmastering, etc,.
I think I mentioned the Broadway Gallery on another of Ann's threads. Some of the artists who exhibited there were Dick Goody, Peter Williams, James Stephens, Gilda Snowden, Karen Sanders, Marcia Gygli King, Brenda Barnum, Shirley Woodson, Robert Berry, and a number of others that I cant pull out of my faulty memory right now.
The gallery was exciting and dynamic for a few seasons then things began to go sour. It closed in a messy way; the space is now a clothing store.

reminds me of philip guston, only better. I'm not much of a fan of guston, but I like this work.
in my opinion this painting looks nothing like any guston painting i have ever seen ?
booty call: another great detroit artist!
Dick Goody has a long history in the Metro Detroit art scene; in the late eighties he showed some wonderful paintings at the Broadway Gallery

C'mon! Bad neo expressionist art is still bad neo espressionist art...even if the artist has a sweet gallery. Mid life crisis forever!!!!!!!
